Welcome to the Yale Historic Site & Museum Website!
Yale, British Columbia - a Timeless Link to the Past
Deemed, during the 1970's, to be one of the most important BC heritage sites, today the site and museum is managed by the Yale and District Historical Society in contract with Heritage BC.
The museum is housed in a heritage home built in the early 1870's. The museum includes an archives for geneological and historical research, a railway exhibit and a wonderful display of native baskets.
The Gold Rush Gift Shop
The Museum gift shop features a wonderful selection of books about the history of Yale and British Columbia.
Visit the 'living history' recreation of the 'tent city' that was once here in Yale; with a tent Saloon, Chinese Bath House, General Store and miners' quarters.
There is also a monument on the site to honour the Chinese labourers who worked to build the railway.
The jewel of the site is St. John the Divine Church built in 1863, one of the oldest churches still on its original foundation in BC. The collection of hand-made church tapestries is something we are very proud of.
Special Events
The church is a lovely setting for weddings and the special events held periodically by the Yale and District Historical Society.
The old-fashioned Strawberry Social is a fun event held every June.
